Valentine's and President's

This weekend to celebrate the long holiday weekend, Colton and I took a trip to Bear Lake to the McFarland family cabin. As usual, it was a blast! And as usual, it was entertaining, fun, fulfilling (lots of good food), and tiring (lots of little kids).

We packed up the truck on Friday afternoon and headed north. After a quick stop at the Logan Albertson's to grab the food we needed for our meal (Saturday's breakfast), we hit the road again. Colton & I love to read Vince Flynn books together, so I wore his headlamp in the dark and read his latest one the entire way to The Bear where we met up with Marti, the Collins' Clan, and the Slack's, who were just finishing up their pizza and shakes.

After everything was unloaded and unpacked, we sat ourselves down to play doctor on Colton's foot. That guy has the softest feet I've ever seen & they were in one heck of a mess after a week of "noon ball" games. The DD pulled out his finest--a first aid kit that would put all of us Mormons to shame! This thing had everything you could have possibly imagined in it. And Vinchenzo gave us quite the demonstration on just how, exactly, he would utilize the objects that he had stored in that dynamite little backpack. The foot treatment was followed by some passionate rounds of Uno Attack.

Since Saturday was Valentine's Day, we did a quick gift exchange in the morning--Colton gave me some sl triceps, and a bunch of core work, their dogs were barking and their tummies were rumbling. After breakfast, John got to the cabin and everyone loaded up for a sleigh ride behind the 4-wheelers. The "older" girls stayed behind to watch Cooper and Sadie, talk, and mix up some hot chocolate for the freezing bunch that came strolling in an hour or so later. That afternoon, the crew sat around the warm living room and watchedippers that I'd had my eye on since July and I gave him some cologne and a Scentsy burner for his office. Colton & I whipped up our assigned breakfast burritos--actually, I whipped them up while Drill Sergeant William C. Swan (aka Jillian) whipped Heather and E'lise into shape. He took his calling as the workout coordinator quite seriously and his sisters' legs are living proof. After 100 squats, wall sits, Swing Vote.
Saturday night was filled with a trip to the Sweetwater hot tub and more games--a few good rounds of girls vs. boys Catch Phrase where Morgan got quite the education...thanks Colton for your turn describing Moby Dick...That was the most Morgie talked all weekend!!

Sunday, after another workout for Heather and E'lise, the Slack's, Nana, and I went to church at the Garden City ward and when we came home, we watched Season 1 and part of Season 2 of the Office. We lounged around all afternoon following a highly competitive round of Scum and later, after a walk, somehow convinced the little girls to give us back massages, foot massages, and head massages. Mine was all fair and square, but Colton lied to the girls and told them he'd take them to the hot tub if they rubbed his back. Once they were finished, he told Maddie that he'd go fill up the tub with hot water for her...needless to say, she wasn't too happy with him.

We watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers that night and had everyone (mostly Colton) marching around the cabin, singing "Bless your beautiful hide". We played Catch Phrase again too and Heather had her pick of some choice words--ones that she knew but didn't want to describe OUT LOUD (how bout just plain old sexual peak Heb?). Who knew this game could be so educational?!? We had to call it quits when DD started humming and passed the game to his wife when his team guessed "humming" when the word was actually "mummy".

And as usual, John came up with some doozies this weekend that I must document for the viewing pleasure of my readers:
1. "You are complaining more than a Democrat at an NRA convention."
2. "I'm fuller than a tick."
3. And last but not least, "Snidely Whiplash used to tie these onto the railroad tracks."

Monday morning is always a bummer because that means that it's time to pack up and go home. We dined on french toast and sausage and the sledding crew went out for one last ride while Marti & John and Colton & I took a ride to the laundromat and Skeeter Flats. Marti spotted a bunch of elk bedded down in a field and once we got back to the cabin, it was time to clean up and load up. That's always the worst part... but it was so much fun and was a great way to spend the long weekend. Thanks everyone for the
fun!!

What happened to the "slow" picture of Colton that you had at the top of your blog?
