The Secret Gang of Bikers

Have you ever noticed the secret little wave that bikers give when they pass each other on the road? What is that about? What does it mean? Who started it? And why can't people in cars do it and get the wave back?

Well I can't lie. I love that secret little wave. I don't have any idea what it means, but whoever started this secret little gang sign has left a serious legacy on the society of bikers everywhere. Colton and I went for a little Sunday evening drive on his cousin's Honda Shadow and it never failed--every time we passed someone else on a bike, the sign was flashed. And these bikers don't flash it quickly, they stick their leathered, Marlboro hands down in the most cool and confident way possible--bandanas and leather chaps blowing in the wind. You can practically smell the grease and the jack daniels dripping from their pores as you pass by. Aah...life on the road...

Well I am determined to break the mold. Once I get the scooter that I have been longing for (to help alleviate my aching bank account because of gas prices), I will be flashing the sign everywhere--to true bikers and to the other people riding around on their dinky scooters in shorts, flip flops, and tank tops. And we're going to make this the biggest gang of all! So move over Hell's Angels, there are some new bikers in town...or should I say scooters?

He looks at home on a bike doesn't he? And pretty hot too...Me? I can admit I look a little out of place...But I'll sure look good on a bright yellow vespa!

Cat Country

Bengal or Wildcat? That is the question. Most of you may already know by now, but I was offered the head coaching job at Idaho State University on Saturday. And so for the answer...........Wildcat. Here are a few of the reasons why:

1. $54K dollars is not enough money for me. But evidently $34K is.
2. I only wear orange and black on Halloween.
3. Jobs like this come along every day.
4. It wouldn't be any fun at all to be the one calling the shots and running the show.
5. Pocatello still doesn't have tv so I wouldn't be able to watch The Office.

Now some of you may be thinking that those reasons are quite ridiculous actually. To tell the truth, I don't really know the exact reason I didn't take it. It is a great opportunity and obviously I was flattered to have been chosen. But when it really comes down to it, I am happy where I am. So here are the real reasons:

1. I love my girls and although I probably don't show it as often as I should to them, they are the reason that I love coming to work every day.
2. I love my house and my friends here.
3. I want to see Weber State be successful after all of the years that I've been a part of this program & I think we have a great chance to do that this year.
4. Ultimately, I feel like I would have more regrets in going than in staying.

And yes, Colton was part of that decision. But he wasn't the ONLY reason, so give us both a break! Anyway, I'm happy to say that I still bleed purple and that I can still growl, scratch, and snarl with the best of them...

5K For Kim

So some of you may know already, but we are doing a fundraiser for one of our athletes that had to be tested for Multiple Sclerosis. She is one of our freshmen from Canada and has a cool $7000 to come up with to pay for the spinal tap and MRI that she had to have done. So we're hosting a 5K on April 26th to help raise some money to pay for these expenses. Here's a little video that my buddy Jon Schade put together to help us advertise and to tell a little bit about Kim's story...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8OOykkQ034

And here's the link for the registration form: http://www.weberstatesports.com/pdf1/120470.pdf?ATCLID=1425201&SPSID=39352&SPID=3469&temp_site=NO&DB_OEM_ID=8600

All the excess money raised will be dontated to the Utah Chapter for MS. It's for a great cause and is only $20!!! Please spread the word!

Trick Daddies

So ever since we bought tickets to the Jazz-Nuggets game back in February, I'd been going around telling everyone about the great deal that we got on some seats for such a great game. Brock and Colton got online one night (while Tyra was measuring my vertical jump in the living room) and bought 4 lower bowl tickets for $100 bucks. What a steal!

I was particularly excited about this because I knew it had to be a great game...playoff race, A.I., Carmelo Anthony, Okur, Brewer, D Will and the gang...what could be better? And to be there to witness all the action from somewhere other than the nosebleeds--which is typically what I can afford--AWESOME.

Well...not so awesome. Evidently, two particularly cruel boys thought it would be REAL funny to lie and trick Tyra & I into believing that our seats were actually much better than they really were. So as we're sitting at Applebee's trying to get some grub before the game, they let it slip that our seats might not be what we thought they were. Oh, they thought it was hilarious that we ever believed them in the first place. And we thought it made us look like snobs because we went around telling everyone how great and cheap these seats were for two months. How embarrassing!

So what's the view like from our true cheap seats? You be the judge!

But we still had a great time! And thanks again for the tickets boys--I guess we'll still love you...but just remember what they say about paybacks!!!

I'm as boring as they come...

I love the blogging world. But I must admit that I don't quite fit in. I don't have any unusual experiences that people want to hear about. I'm not exciting. I don't travel. My latest vacations consist of the oh-so-long drive to Farr West, Preston, or Rexburg to hang out with my family. I don't have an AMAZING job where I make millions of dollars working out of my home. I don't participate in marathons or 5K's or triathalons--or even train or workout on a consistent basis for that matter. Except for yoga. I don't have kids. Especially 3 under 3. I'm not expecting any soon. I'm not married. I don't even have a camera. So I have nothing to blog about.

But...as we all know, blogging gets addicting and we've all experienced that mild irritation when friends or family haven't updated their own blogs in a long time. Mild? Umm, no. I get down-right ticked. So I guess as JT (bringing sexy back) likes to put it, "what goes around comes around" & my sister has posted a few comments on my blog about the fact that I needed to post something new. So here it is. I hope you liked it...
