Bear Lake Getaway

This past weekend, Colton invited my family to go to the McFarland cabin in Bear Lake. Tyra and Brock packed up their two kids and I convinced a sick Kelsey to bring her kids (despite her husband being at Scout camp & her having the flu) and come for the weekend too. We drove up Friday night and got unpacked and ate pizza & then we all hit the sack.

Saturday morning Colton & Brock got up for an early tee time at the Bear Lake Golf and Country Club while we got breakfast ready for the kids. Once the guys got home, it was time to hit the beach. We packed up some snacks and drinks and took off for Ideal Beach--volleyball net in tow. We set up the court and played doubles short court for about three hours and I took the kids to the pool while Colton & Kelsey battled it out with Brock & Tyra. Then it was time to head back to the cabin so we could eat lunch and the kids could get a quick nap before our next tee time. My mom & dad made it over in time for lunch and then we all took off for the golf course. We had four carts loaded with 7 adults and 4 kids--all of whom wanted to get out of the cart every time it stopped or insisted on yelling right in the middle of your backswing, or kicked, picked up and threw your ball off the green. But it was a blast anyway. After our highly skilled and competitive golf game (because Colton & Brock are the only ones who even came close to par--shooting a 40 and 42 respectively), we headed back for some more grub. My parents took off after dinner and we ran down to the Slow and Nasty (Quick and Tasty) for a fresh raspberry shake--a must-have when you are staying in Bear Lake.

Sunday morning we woke up and fixed breakfast--missing church because we slept longer than planned and watched some of the US Open (because the majority of us desperately need some pointers). The boys went for a bike ride and we started cleaning the cabin & decided to hit the beach one last time on our way home.

It was a great trip--as usual when you get to go over there--and I'm so happy that my family was able to go too. What a great life it is when your family members are your best friends!

Those puppies are my brother and sister-in-laws. They just were given them by a friend. Abbi is the teeny tiny one and Brigs is the normal sized one. But they are already attached? Did you eat at Bear Lake Pizza? My picture is on the wall there three times for eating that huge a** pizza. Don't worry I had lots of help!
